We give a vivid insight into medieval life and culture based on an established museum pedagogical concept developed over the years. Usually we do that in our authentically reconstructed campsite but all our presentations can also be held in other appropriate locations like schools or museums and are always adapted to the respective audience. Due to thoroughly studying the historical sources we are aware that re-enacting medieval life can only be an approach and interpretation according to the latest standard of knowledge.
Our large medieval encampment is equipped with the respective articles of daily use. The tents are set up as displays for the audience, meaning that at the entrance of each tent one can have a look at the authentic interior. Members of our society will be pleased to explain the significance and use of the shown items.
For the duration of each event we inhabit our tents and pursue several activities like cooking, eating, handicrafts, crafts, playing games and sleeping within our encampment.
The encampment consists of up to six tents and one awning. Only tent types like the pavilion and Geteld which are proven for the 12th century are in use and like their historical examples they are made of linen.
In detail our camp consists of one large pavilion (5m diameter, approx. 4.5m height), another medium sized pavilion (4m diameter, approx. 3.5m height), two large Getelts (each 7.5 m long, 3.5m wide and 2.5m high) and two additional Getelts (each 5.8 m long, 2.8m wide, 2.3m high). The camp is completed with a 4x6m sized awning and a small windbreak for the fire-pit.
